    Lindsey L. Upton is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice. Her research interests include homelessness, crime and media, and critical criminology. Her community engagement and activism is focused on the intersectionality of gender, sexuality, race/ethnicity, disability and age among survivors of victimization, specifically experiences with services and the criminal justice system at such intersections.

    Upton earned her Ph.D. from Old Dominion University, M.S. from Eastern Kentucky University, and B.A. from Iowa State University. While at ODU, she was the first doctoral candidate to receive the Excellence in Service award for her dedication to community activism and engagement.
