•For the fun loving young musician who wants to get serious!
•For young musicians who want to have serious fun!

What is EWU CMAC? EWU Creative Musical Arts Camp will provide an intensive, highly enjoyable experience designed for musical growth for vocalists, string, wind and percussion students of all kinds. We believe in an inclusive environment with an atmosphere that encourages positive social interaction and growth through the joy of music.   Students will have the opportunity to explore conventional and unconventional small ensembles in numerous musical styles including musical theater, classical, jazz, funk, country, pop, Latin, and more. Students may choose to expand their musical diversity or specialize in specific areas working with master teachers and performers on their chosen style(s) and instrument(s).

What will I do all day? Students will have the opportunity to grow by taking part in the following activities:

  • Daily Masterclass on your instrument - In the morning you will learn more about your instrument and warm-up with an expert teacher who will help you develop the habits you need to continue making music healthfully your whole life
  • Chamber Ensembles - When we have the camp registration numbers and a feel for who you are and what you want to do, we can group you into a couple of different conventional and unconventional ensembles to explore your creative artistic desires
  • Theory Classes - We will send you a theory placement exam to take and return so we can put you into a theory class that helps you learn, but doesn't overwhelm you.  Also, if you have a specific interest in jazz theory, we will have opportunities for you in that genre as well.
  • Elective Classes - we will offer a wide range of elective topics to include: theatre improvisation, arranging/composing, pit ensemble 'how to,' instrumental improvisation, vocal improvisation, music history topics, piano basics, and an instrument petting zoo
  • Full Camp Ensemble - after receiving your registrations, we will choose a piece (most likely from the musical theater repertoire) to present as an entire camp
  • Free Time or Private Lessons - every day there will be an hour during which you can elect to have some time to practice or unwind; or, you can pay to take private lessons with an instructor of your choice.
  • Camp Activities or Faculty Concerts - each evening there will be some kind of camp activity or a concert by them faculty.
