1) Do I need to be a student at Eastern Washington University?

Yes, there are McNair Scholars Programs Nationwide however, to be a EWU McNair Scholar you must be enrolled at Eastern Washington University.
Exception: If you plan on transfering to EWU, contact us for further information.

2) How do I get an application?

To obtain an application for Eastern Washington University's McNair Scholar Program you must first schedule and interview with either Dr. Christina Torres García, Director at 359-2471 or Cynthia Dukich, Assistant Director at 359-6523.

3) How do I find out if I am eligible for the McNair Scholars Program?

You may qualify for the McNair Scholars Program at Eastern Washington University if you meet all of the requirements listed below:

  • You are interested in pursuing graduate studies at the doctoral level
  • Are currently enrolled at EWU with a sophomore standing or above undergraduates
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 overall and 3.0 in your major field of study
  • Are a United States citizen or a permanent resident
  • Are first-generation in college, low-income, or from a group underrepresented in doctoral studies
    (Including African Americans, Native Americans, and Hispanics)

*Low income eligibility is determined based upon the "Low Income Chart."
